First swim at Areetako hondartza

After a morning wandering Casco Viejo for Aste Nagusia, the heat finally won and we headed for the beach in Las Arenas. Anders took the plunge for his very first ocean swim, arms shooting up in triumph the moment he found his footing in the warm water — you can practically hear the whoop from the photo.

While he bobbed and cheered out past the shallows, the sand back on shore became its own project, with a moat under construction to keep the tide in its place. A hot day, a happy first swim, and a beach fort to show for it.
